Low-angled peripheral intravenous catheter tip placement decreases phlebitis

Flexible polyurethane catheters significantly reduced phlebitis compared to Teflon. Lower catheter-tip angles, measured by ultrasonography, correlated with decreased phlebitis rates in patients receiving peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVCs).
