Cognitive Dissonance01:38

Cognitive Dissonance

37.8K
Social psychologists have documented that feeling good about ourselves and maintaining positive self-esteem is a powerful motivator of human behavior (Tavris & Aronson, 2008). In the United States, members of the predominant culture typically think very highly of themselves and view themselves as good people who are above average on many desirable traits (Ehrlinger, Gilovich, & Ross, 2005). Often, our behavior, attitudes, and beliefs are affected when we experience a threat to our...

Position and Displacement

29.0K
The position of an object defines its location relative to a convenient frame of reference at any particular time. A frame of reference is an arbitrary set of axes from which the position and motion of an object are described. Earth is often used as a frame of reference, and we often describe the position of an object as it relates to stationary objects on Earth. For example, a rocket launch could be described in terms of the position of the rocket with respect to Earth as a whole. On the other...

Position and Displacement Vectors

14.2K
To describe the motion of an object, one should first be able to describe its position (where it is at any particular time). More precisely, the position needs to be specified relative to a convenient frame of reference. A frame of reference is an arbitrary set of axes from which the position and motion of an object are described. Earth is often used as a frame of reference to describe the position of an object in relation to stationary objects on Earth.
Further, several important kinds of...

Significance of Displacement Current01:27

Significance of Displacement Current

6.2K
A displacement current is analogous to a real current in Ampère's law, participating in Ampère's law the same way as the usual conduction current. However, it is produced by a changing electric field. Displacement current is defined in terms of a time-varying electric field, and also has an associated displacement current density. By adding a term accounting for displacement current, Maxwell modified the existing Ampère's law, which is now called generalized Ampère's law.

    Area of Science:

    • Healthcare education
    • Nursing workforce development

    Background:

    • Rising housing costs present a significant barrier to student retention in specialized training programs.
    • The Project 2000 initiative aims to train nurses, but its success is contingent on student financial stability.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To highlight the potential impact of escalating rental costs on nursing student attrition.
    • To alert stakeholders to a developing crisis in nursing recruitment.

    Main Methods:

    • Analysis of rental market trends in Bath.
    • Consultation with the Royal College of Nursing regarding student concerns.

    Main Results:

    • Significant rent increases in Bath have been identified as a direct threat to Project 2000 nursing students.
    • There is a considerable risk that students may be forced to abandon their nursing education due to financial pressures.

    Conclusions:

    • Urgent intervention is required to address the affordability crisis for nursing students in Bath.
    • Failure to mitigate rent increases could jeopardize the future nursing workforce.
