Repeated human tooth allograft after a previous rejection.

R S Hertz, A T Baum

Journal of Oral Surgery (American Dental Association : 1965)
    |September 1, 1978

    Summary

A human tooth allograft initially failed but a second attempt from the same donor to the same patient succeeded. This case challenges the typical immune response, suggesting repeat tooth allografts may be viable even after initial failure.

    Area of Science:

    • Oral surgery
    • Immunology
    • Dental transplantation

    Background:

    • Human tooth allografts are a reconstructive option.
    • Immune rejection, or the law of second-set reaction, typically predicts graft failure after an initial rejection.
