Lingual thyroid. Review of the literature and report of a case

A case of lingual thyroid nodule was presented which demonstrates the need for oral surgeons to be aware of this entity in order to avoid the indiscriminate excision of lesions of the posterior dorsal surface of the tongue without proper medical examination of all systems of the body.
