[Acute appendicitis in patients with diabetes mellitus]

The clinical course of acute appendicitis was studied in 39 patients suffering from diabetes mellitus. Destructive forms of acute appendicitis prevailed in these patients, the pain syndrome was moderate, and the temperature reaction, rigidity of muscles of the anterior abdominal wall, and changes in the blood leukocyte count may be absent. Postoperative purulent complications occurred in 47% of patients.
