Summary

Maternal venous levels of split and hairy related protein-1 (SHARP1) were significantly lower in preeclampsia (PE) patients compared to normal pregnancies. Lower SHARP1 is a risk factor for PE, suggesting its role in disease pathogenesis.

Background:

  • Preeclampsia (PE) pathogenesis remains unclear, with ongoing debate regarding its etiology.
  • Split and hairy related protein-1 (SHARP1), an angiogenesis marker, has not been extensively studied in the context of PE.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate and compare maternal venous levels of SHARP1 in patients with preeclampsia versus normal pregnancies.
  • To evaluate SHARP1 as a potential diagnostic or prognostic marker for PE.

  • A comparative study involving 31 early-onset PE (EOPE), 26 late-onset PE (LOPE), and 33 control participants.
