Dumbbell-Mimicked Mediastinal Angiomatosis

Mediastinal angiomatosis is a rare vascular lesion that invaded the spine, mimicking a dumbbell tumor. Complete surgical excision is crucial to prevent spinal cord compression.

- Angiomatosis is a nonneoplastic proliferative vascular lesion typically found in soft tissues.

- A 63-year-old male with prostate adenocarcinoma presented with a mediastinal mass and spinal invasion.
- Imaging revealed a posterior mediastinal tumor with T4 intraspinal extension, resembling a dumbbell tumor.
- The patient had a left pleural effusion and a left paraspinal mass.
Findings:
- The tumor was diagnosed as angiomatosis after complete surgical excision.
- Surgical approach involved laminectomy (T3-5) and thoracoscopic removal.
- Histopathological confirmation of angiomatosis was obtained.

- This case highlights the importance of considering angiomatosis in the differential diagnosis of mediastinal masses with spinal involvement.
