Background:

  • Matrix metalloproteinases-2 (MMP-2) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) are implicated in extracellular matrix degradation, crucial for tumor invasion and metastasis.
  • Understanding the roles of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is vital for developing targeted therapies.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the expression levels of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in OSCC archival samples.
  • To correlate MMP-2 and TIMP-2 expression with clinicopathologic parameters, including tumor grade, stage, and metastatic capacity.
