Summary

Canine ascitic fluid exhibits coagulation activation and fibrinogenolytic/fibrinolytic activity, indicated by low fibrinogen and elevated fibrin-fibrinogen degradation products (FDPs) and D-dimer. This occurs regardless of the ascites cause.
