[The incidence of hyperthyroidism in the Suhl district in 1985 and 1987]

An increase of the number of treated hyperthyroidosis-patients within 2 years until 174% was found out in the years 1985 and 1987 by a comparative prescription analysis in the course of 3 months. Sex- and age incidence of the patients did not change in the control period. A more effective iodine prophylaxis of the population has to be supposed as cause for it. The portion of treated patients in the district increased on an average from 7.6 patients/10,000 population in 1985 to 13.2 patients/10,000 population in 1987.
