Developing education

Wound management has developed rapidly over the past 30 years in response to research activity, but the problem of disseminating research findings into clinical practice continues. Knowledge of current philosophies remains variable, leading to deficiencies in the clinical management of many patients. The DoH1 urges that 'comprehensive wound management courses be initiated in convenient centres'. To enable clinicians to facilitate changes in wound management practice, there need to be flexible, clinically-relevant and academically-validated study programmes.
