Metabolic Syndrome After Liver Transplantation: Five-Year Prevalence and Risk Factors

Metabolic syndrome (MS) affects 38.2% of liver transplant recipients 5 years post-surgery. Obesity and diabetes, both before and after transplantation, are key risk factors for developing MS.

- Obesity and diabetes are critical risk factors for MS development in the pre- and post-transplantation periods.
- Targeting these factors may help mitigate metabolic complications in OLT survivors.
