1. With the majority of ophthalmic surgical patients using the day surgical unit, it is essential for OR nurses to realize the importance of using all possible teaching time with their patients. 2. While in the OR, the subject of surgical attire is fully addressed. The importance of covering all hair, removing nail polish, fake nails, and jewelry is explained. 3. Once a majority of the informative material is finished we can concentrate on the job and responsibilities themselves, which in the OR are many; first and foremost are the responsibilities of the patient advocate.
