    Summary

    Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) phlebography is a safe and effective method for diagnosing deep venous system disorders in the lower extremities. This study found it useful for identifying deep vein thrombosis and venous wall irregularities.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the safety and utility of digital subtraction angiography (DSA) phlebography for diagnosing lower extremity deep venous system disorders.

    Main Methods:

    • DSA phlebography was performed on 36 legs in 21 patients using a supine position and a dilute contrast medium.
    • Vein opacification and abnormal findings were assessed.

    Main Results:

    • Posterior tibial and peroneal veins showed high identification rates (94.7% and 97.4%).
    • Deep vein thrombosis was detected in 5 legs, reflux in 14, and venous wall irregularity in 16.
