The use of invasive devices like vascular and urinary catheters, and prior antibiotic exposure, particularly carbapenems, increases the risk of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteremia in ICU patients. Rational antibiotic use can help reduce MRSA emergence.
