Summary

Cytotoxic CD8+ T cells, producing IFN-γ and IL-17, may increase in advanced bladder cancer. Further research is needed to understand their role in tumor prognosis.

Purpose of the Study:

  • Investigate CD8+ T cell percentages and subsets in bladder cancer lymph nodes.
  • Analyze specific cytokine production (IFN-γ, IL-17) within these subsets.

Main Methods:

  • Recruited 45 bladder cancer patients undergoing radical cystectomy.
  • Isolated and activated lymphocytes from draining lymph nodes.
  • Utilized flow cytometry to analyze CD8+ T cell subsets expressing IFN-γ and IL-17.

Main Results:

  • Elevated IL-17 expression in CD8+ T cells of high-grade bladder cancer patients.
