- Ethylbenzene, p-xylene, phenylacetic acid, and nonane correlated with OSA severity (AHI, arousal index, duration of SpO2 ≤ 90%) and decreased after CPAP treatment.

- Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with increased levels of certain toxic volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- The concentrations of specific VOCs correlate with OSA severity and duration of nocturnal hypoxia.
- Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment may help ameliorate the production of these VOCs in OSA patients.
