Summary

Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is a rare jaw lesion. Surgical removal and reconstruction successfully treated a giant ABC in a young woman's jaw, with no recurrence observed.

Observation:

  • A 25-year-old female presented with a large, rapidly growing lesion in her left mandibular condyle.
  • Imaging revealed a giant aneurysmal bone cyst.
  • The lesion caused significant local destruction.

Findings:

  • The patient underwent surgical resection of the affected mandibular condyle.
  • Immediate mandibular reconstruction was performed using autologous bone graft.
  • Post-operative follow-up demonstrated no signs of disease recurrence.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the successful management of a rare condylar ABC.
  • Surgical resection and autologous reconstruction offer a viable treatment strategy.
  • Further research into ABC pathogenesis may improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficacy.
