Summary

Endoscopic resection is a novel approach for cecal leiomyomas, a type of gastrointestinal smooth muscle tumor. This minimally invasive technique offers a new treatment option for right colon tumors, previously unattempted.

Background:

Gastrointestinal leiomyomas are benign smooth muscle neoplasms originating from the muscular layers of the gastrointestinal tract.
Current management strategies for leiomyomas are dictated by tumor size, location, and patient presentation.
Endoscopic resection techniques, such as snare cauterization, are established for left-sided colonic leiomyomas but not for right-sided lesions.

Observation:

A case of a cecal leiomyoma, a tumor in the right colon, was successfully managed.
The leiomyoma was located in the cecum, posing a unique challenge due to its location.
Endoscopic resection was performed as the primary treatment modality for this right-sided colonic tumor.

Findings:

Successful endoscopic resection of a cecal leiomyoma was achieved, representing a novel application of this technique.
This case demonstrates the feasibility of endoscopic management for leiomyomas in the right colon.
The procedure was performed without prior documented attempts for right colon leiomyoma resection.

Implications:

Endoscopic resection may become a viable and less invasive alternative for treating right colonic leiomyomas.
This approach could potentially reduce the need for more invasive surgical procedures in select cases.
Further research and case studies are warranted to establish the safety and efficacy of this technique for right-sided colonic tumors.
