Transitional cell carcinoma associated with retrocaval ureter.

    Summary

    Retrocaval ureter, a rare condition, has never been documented with transitional cell carcinoma. This study reports the first known case of this rare ureteral anomaly co-occurring with cancer.

    Background:

    • Retrocaval ureter (RCU) is an uncommon congenital anomaly where the ureter courses behind the inferior vena cava.
    • Fewer than 200 cases of RCU have been documented globally.
    • The co-occurrence of RCU and transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) has not been previously reported in medical literature.
