[Composition of lens protein in chicks contaminated by lead]
Klinika Oczna
|January 1, 1989
Abstract:
Six days old embryos of domestic hen were contaminated with lead. The 1st group received 10 mg Pb/kg, the 2d - 50 mg Pb/kg and the 3d (control group) distilled water. On the second day after the chicks hatched ophthalmological examinations were performed; the animal was decapitated, the eyes enucleated, lens extracted and homogenized. The composition of the lens proteins was investigated by means of blotting paper and polyacrylamide electrophoresis. The contaminated group showed a higher percentage of a fast-migration--high molecular protein than in the control group.
