Abstract:
The significance of calcium and the system regulating its metabolism is considered in relation to pathogenesis of bronchial asthma. CaCl2 loading intravenous test, performed in patients suffering from different forms of bronchial asthma and in healthy subjects, showed different results dependent on the form (atopic or infectious) and therapy conducted (glucocorticoids). Disturbances in calcium-regulating system appear in the course of the disease progression and augment in long-term glucocorticoid treatment.
