Abstract:
The aim of the paper was the evaluation of clinical significance of cervical nystagmus in diagnosis of vascular insufficiency of vertebral and basal arteries. The investigations were carried out in 50 patients with insufficiency of vertebral and basal arteries and 25 neurologically normals, as well as in 25 patients with tumor in posterior cranial fossa. The optokinetic and spontaneous nystagmus were examined. The cervical nystagmus was found more frequently in vascular lesions cases. It is not a more frequent sign of vascular pathology than other vestibular and optokinetic responses. Its regression during the improvement of the clinical status may be useful in clinical evaluations.
