    Background:

    • Pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) presents complex treatment challenges, especially with comorbidities like diabetes and liver disease.
    • Standard treatments may be insufficient for severe or complicated PTB cases.
    • Hemosorption offers a potential adjunctive therapy for managing complex conditions.

    Observation:

    • Hemosorption was utilized in 82 patients diagnosed with complicated pulmonary tuberculosis.
    • Patients often had coexisting conditions, including diabetes mellitus and liver affections.
    • Specialized equipment, including SKN hemosorbents and regional heparinization devices, was employed.

    Findings:

    • The application of hemosorbents SKN and plastic systems, alongside regional heparin dosing, reduced the invasiveness of the procedure.
    • Lower doses of heparin were required, enhancing patient safety.
    • The procedure was found to be sparing and minimally traumatic, even for patients with severe pulmonary tuberculosis.

    Implications:

    • Hemosorption is a viable, less traumatic option for managing complicated pulmonary tuberculosis, particularly in patients with comorbidities.
    • The technique facilitates the treatment of severe PTB cases previously considered high-risk.
    • Further research into hemosorption's role in managing complex infectious and chronic diseases is warranted.
