Background:

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) serves a growing veteran population.
Technology-based self-screening is supported for healthcare delivery.
The VA eScreening program was developed for veterans' self-reported health data.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess veteran satisfaction with eScreening versus paper screening.
To determine accessibility and clinical process differences.
To examine screening differences and connection to care.

Main Methods:

1,372 newly enrolling veterans participated in two cohorts.
Comparison of VA eScreening program with traditional paper screening.
Evaluation of satisfaction, accessibility, clinical processes, and care connection.

Main Results:

Veterans reported slightly higher satisfaction with eScreening.
eScreening showed significantly better accessibility and completion rates.
eScreening improved connection to VA services and reduced documentation time for suicide risk assessments.

Conclusions:

The VA eScreening program is a promising tool for improving veteran health screening.
It offers advantages in efficiency, accessibility, and patient engagement.
This program can leverage resources to enhance care for veterans.
