    Area of Science:

    • Optics and Photonics
    • Digital Imaging
    • Computational Photography

    Background:

    • Parallel phase-shifting digital holography enables efficient, high-quality hologram recording of dynamic scenes.
    • Current methods require phase-shifting array devices matching image sensor cell size, posing practical challenges.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To propose a novel scheme for achieving high-resolution parallel phase-shifting digital holography using a low-resolution phase-shifting array device.
    • To overcome the practical limitations associated with matching phase-shifting array device and image sensor dimensions.

    Main Methods:

    • Development of a novel scheme based on image inpainting techniques.
    • Application of image inpainting to reconstruct high-resolution holograms from incomplete data acquired by a low-resolution device.

    Main Results:

    • Demonstration of a novel method to achieve high-resolution parallel phase-shifting digital holography with a low-resolution device.
    • Experimental validation of the proposed scheme's effectiveness in overcoming practical hardware constraints.

    Conclusions:

    • The proposed image inpainting-based scheme effectively enables high-resolution parallel phase-shifting digital holography using less complex hardware.
    • This approach offers a practical solution for recording high-quality holograms from fast-moving objects in dynamic scenes.
