Summary

Visual gait analysis (VGA) using the Edinburgh visual gait score (EVGS) moderately correlates with functional mobility (Timed Up and Go Test) and gross motor function (GMFCS) in children with cerebral palsy (CP). This suggests VGA is a valuable tool for assessing CP patients.

  • Functional mobility was assessed with the Timed Up and Go Test (TUG), and functional status with the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS).
  • Spearman correlation analysis was employed.

    • The mean EVGS score was 18.97, and the mean TUG time was 13.71 seconds.
    • A moderate correlation was found between EVGS and TUG (r=0.46, p=0.03).

    Conclusions:

    • Poorer visual gait analysis scores are associated with worse functional mobility and performance in individuals with CP.
    • Visual gait analysis (VGA) demonstrates utility as an evaluative tool for patients with cerebral palsy.
    • The findings support the use of VGA in conjunction with functional assessments for a comprehensive understanding of CP.
