Abstract:
Neocortical dysplasia is the morphological expression of neocortical malformation. Its expression prevails in the areas surrounding the Sylvian fossa (opercula). Delayed opercularization, abnormal inclination angle of the Sylvian fissure and abnormal gyral patterns surrounding the fossa are the main abnormalities, made visible by MRI-sections, especially the lateral projections. The present study, which is part of a broader study on neocortical maldevelopment, involves the search for correlations between macroscopic and microscopic neocortical dysplasia, with the object of improving MRI diagnosis of neocortical dysplasia.
