Background:

Portable electronic medical records (EMRs) used by home care nurses often lack organized displays of patient care documentation.
Disorganized information retrieval necessitates manual data collation from multiple screens, impacting efficiency.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and evaluate clinical dashboards for presenting key patient information for home care.
To assess home care nurses' perceptions of these newly developed clinical dashboards.

Main Methods:

Development of clinical dashboards presenting health problem-specific data (congestive heart failure, anticoagulation, ulcer wounds, diabetes).
A scenario-based evaluation using a questionnaire with 28 closed-ended and 2 open-ended questions.
Recruitment of 19 nurses from three home care organizations.

Main Results:

14 out of 19 nurses positively perceived the clinical dashboards in the scenario.
Nurses provided suggestions for dashboard improvement.
Some dashboard features received neutral or negative feedback, highlighting areas for further development.

Conclusions:

Clinical dashboards show promise in organizing patient data for home care nurses.
Further development is required to fully meet the needs of home care nursing practice.
User feedback is crucial for optimizing clinical dashboard design.
