Specific lectins, Maclura pomifera (MPA) and Solanum tuberosum (STA), can identify pre-invading thyroid carcinoma lesions in rats. These lectins show specific binding to malignant tissues, aiding in early cancer detection.

Background:

  • Thyroid tumors and associated lesions were induced in rats using diisopropanolnitrosamine (DIPN) and methylthiouracil (MTU).
