Simultaneous bilateral distal biceps tendon repair: case report.

Background:

• Simultaneous bilateral distal biceps tendon rupture is a rare injury with limited established treatment protocols.

Observation:

• A 39-year-old male presented with acute bilateral distal biceps tendon ruptures sustained during weightlifting.
• Clinical examination revealed bilateral anterior arm pain, ecchymosis, muscle bulging, and decreased supination strength.
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) confirmed bilateral complete rupture and retraction of the distal biceps tendons.

Findings:

• The patient underwent simultaneous bilateral distal biceps tendon repair utilizing a double incision technique with anchor fixation.
• Post-operative recovery was favorable, with the patient achieving a full return to work and sports activities.
• Two-year follow-up demonstrated excellent patient satisfaction and functional outcomes.

Implications:

• Simultaneous surgical repair is a viable and effective treatment for acute bilateral distal biceps tendon ruptures.
• The double incision technique provides a reliable method for addressing this rare injury.
• This case highlights the importance of prompt surgical intervention for optimal functional recovery in bilateral distal biceps tendon ruptures.
