    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effects of baclofen on memory consolidation and retention in a passive avoidance task.
    • To determine if post-training administration of baclofen influences long-term memory recall.

    Main Methods:

    • Male Fischer-344 rats were trained on a one-trial passive avoidance task.
    • Baclofen (5 or 10 mg/kg) or vehicle was administered intraperitoneally immediately, 10 min, or 60 min after training.
    • Retention was tested 1 week later by measuring re-entry frequency into the test chamber.
    • Locomotor activity was assessed in a separate experiment.
