The association between interleukin-19 concentration and diabetic nephropathy

Serum Interleukin-19 (IL-19) levels are elevated in patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN). Higher IL-19 correlates with markers of kidney damage and glycemic control, suggesting a role in DN progression.

- Serum IL-19 levels were significantly higher in DN patients compared to controls.
- IL-19 showed significant positive correlations with Hs-CRP, Cystatin C, UAE, and HbA1c.
- Multivariable logistic regression identified IL-19 as independently associated with DN.
Conclusions:
- IL-19 is significantly positively correlated with UAE and Cystatin C.
- IL-19 may contribute to the progression of diabetic nephropathy.
