- To investigate circulating levels of Malondialdehyde (MDA), Ferric Reducing Ability of Plasma (FRAP), Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α), soluble Fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), Placental Growth Factor (PlGF), and Nitric Oxide (NO).
- To determine the role of these factors in endothelial dysfunction associated with PE.
Main Methods:
- A comparative study involving 100 normotensive pregnant women (N), 100 preeclamptic women (PE), and 100 eclamptic women (E) in their third trimester.
- Analysis of MDA, FRAP, TNF-α, sFlt-1, VEGF, PlGF, and NO levels.

- Oxidative stress and an imbalance between anti-angiogenic and pro-angiogenic factors are present in Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension (PIH).
- This imbalance is directly linked to endothelial dysfunction, a hallmark of PE.
- Oxidative stress markers, VEGF, PlGF, and sFlt-1 can serve as predictive markers for the onset and progression of PE.
