    A calculus was found in the maxillary sinus during a dental exam. Analysis indicated it formed locally, not due to another foreign object.

    Background:

    • Dental radiography frequently reveals incidental findings.
    • Maxillary sinus pathologies can present asymptomatically.

    Observation:

    • A foreign body was detected in the maxillary sinus via dental radiography.
    • The object was identified as a calculus (tartar).

    Findings:

    • Analysis of the calculus showed no external foreign body as a nucleus for crystallization.
    • The calculus appeared to have formed de novo within the maxillary antrum.

    Implications:

    • This case highlights the possibility of endogenous calculus formation in the maxillary sinus.
    • Further investigation into the etiology of maxillary sinus calculi may be warranted.
