Background:

Professional ethics, including fairness and respect, are crucial for nurse educators acting as role models.
Student perspectives are vital for evaluating the ethical conduct of educators in healthcare training.

Purpose of the Study:

To examine the implementation of ethical principles (fairness, respect) by nurse educators from nursing students' viewpoints.
To assess the perceived ethical competence of nurse educators in Finland.

Main Methods:

A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with 202 graduating nursing students in Finland.
Data were collected using an internet-based questionnaire with 22 structured, 5-point Likert scale questions.
Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were employed to interpret the data.

Main Results:

Nurse educators exhibited good fairness and respect towards colleagues, superiors, and leaders.
However, students perceived lower levels of fairness and respect from educators towards themselves.
Students reported that their individual opinions were not consistently respected by educators.

Conclusions:

Nurse educators require enhanced focus on demonstrating fairness and respect in their interactions with students.
Addressing these ethical gaps is essential for effective nursing education and professional development.
Student feedback highlights areas for improvement in fostering an ethical learning environment.
