Sexual Offender Views About Treatment: A Client Survey

Sexual offender clients are often regarded as passive recipients of treatment whose views are of limited relevance to treatment outcome. This contrasts with other mental health client groups whose views are regarded as central to the therapeutic process. A group of clients receiving treatment for sexual offending were surveyed for their views regarding their treatment. Their responses indicate that, as a group, their views about treatment are similar to other client groups, suggesting that service users in offender programs may have an important role in the development of effective treatments.
