Does rheumatoid synovitis activity vary during the day? Evaluation with color doppler sonography

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) synovitis activity, measured by Color Doppler (CD) ultrasound, increases throughout the day, particularly in patients not on corticosteroids. This finding highlights diurnal variations in RA disease activity.

- Synovitis and CD activity demonstrably increase during the day in RA patients.

- Dominant hand joints show a greater evening increase in synovitis activity.
