Papillary thyroid carcinoma is rarely found in thyroglossal duct cysts (TDC). This case highlights concurrent carcinoma in both the TDC and thyroid gland, prompting discussion on origins and management.
Area of Science:
- Endocrinology
- Surgical Pathology
- Head and Neck Surgery
Background:
- Thyroglossal duct cysts (TDC) are congenital anomalies representing remnants of the thyroglossal duct tract.
- Malignant transformation within a TDC is exceptionally rare, often discovered incidentally post-Sistrunk procedure.
