Hyperglycemia predicts poststroke infections in acute ischemic stroke

In nondiabetic patients with acute ischemic stroke, high blood sugar at admission predicts infections and worse outcomes. Poststroke infections did not alter this association, highlighting hyperglycemia as a key risk factor.
