Summary

Background:

Primary cardiac lymphoma is a rare malignancy, accounting for only 1.3% of primary cardiac tumors.
These tumors present diagnostic challenges due to their rarity and nonspecific symptoms.

Observation:

A case report of a 35-year-old immunocompetent patient with primary cardiac lymphoma.
The patient presented with symptoms indicative of cardiac tamponade.
Echocardiography identified a lateral atrioventricular mass and significant pericardial effusion.

Findings:

The patient underwent pericardiocentesis and surgical excision of the cardiac mass.
Post-operative chemotherapy was administered following established protocols.
Complete remission of the lymphoma was achieved within 6 months.

Implications:

This case underscores the importance of considering rare cardiac tumors in the differential diagnosis of cardiac tamponade.
Multimodal treatment including surgery and chemotherapy can be effective for primary cardiac lymphoma.
Early diagnosis and prompt intervention are crucial for favorable outcomes in primary cardiac lymphoma.
