    Background:

    • Physical activity levels are often suboptimal after total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
    • Conventional rehabilitation may not fully restore functional mobility or activity levels.
    • There is a need for effective interventions to augment post-TKA recovery.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the feasibility of a physical activity feedback (PAF) intervention.
    • To assess the impact of PAF on physical activity in patients undergoing TKA.
    • To determine if PAF can be successfully integrated with standard TKA rehabilitation.

    Main Methods:

    • A randomized controlled trial comparing a 12-week PAF intervention to an attention control group.
    • The PAF group received real-time feedback, weekly action planning, and monthly support meetings.
    • Feasibility was measured by retention, adherence, dose goal attainment, and responsiveness via pre/post testing.

    Main Results:

    • The PAF group demonstrated 100% retention and 92% adherence to feedback use.
    • Sixty-five percent of PAF participants achieved their physical activity goals.
    • Average daily step count increased significantly in the PAF group from 5,754 to 6,917 steps.

    Conclusions:

    • The physical activity feedback intervention is feasible for patients post-TKA.
    • This intervention can be used as an adjunct to conventional rehabilitation programs.
    • PAF shows promise for improving physical activity and recovery outcomes after TKA.
