Background:

Peripheral neuroblastoma is a rare malignancy originating from neural crest cells.
Canine neuroblastoma is infrequently reported, with limited information on its metastatic potential.

Observation:

A 4-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback presented with neurological deficits including Horner's syndrome, laryngeal paralysis, and ataxia.
Necropsy revealed a retropharyngeal tumor with widespread metastases to spleen, vertebral bodies, lymph nodes, bone marrow, lungs, and liver.

Findings:

Histological and immunohistochemical analysis confirmed a differentiating peripheral neuroblastoma.
Ganglion cell differentiation was noted in primary and metastatic lesions.
The tumor exhibited neuroblastic features with specific protein expression.

Implications:

This case highlights the potential for widespread hematogenous metastasis of canine neuroblastoma, particularly to bone marrow.
The findings expand the understanding of neuroblastoma behavior and pathology in dogs.
Suggests the need for thorough staging in suspected canine neuroblastoma cases.
