This study introduces a new cooperation scheme for Device-to-Device (D2D) communication to conserve user energy. By optimizing relay selection using the Kuhn-Munkres algorithm, it enhances energy efficiency without compromising quality of service.
Area of Science:
- Wireless Communication
- Network Engineering
- Computer Science
Background:
- Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is vital for heterogeneous networks, offering improved spectrum, throughput, and energy efficiency.
- Cooperation among D2D users, while beneficial, significantly depletes individual user energy, impacting system longevity.
- Existing schemes often overlook the critical balance between energy availability and communication quality.
Purpose of the Study:
- To propose an energy-efficient cooperation scheme for multiple D2D users sharing orthogonal spectrum and data.
- To address the energy consumption challenge in D2D networks by optimizing relay selection.
- To enhance overall system performance by considering both energy constraints and Quality of Service (QoS).
Main Methods:
- Introduced the Kuhn-Munkres algorithm to solve the relay selection problem, transforming it into a maximum weighted matching (MWM) problem.
- Derived link outage probability using the Shannon Equation, incorporating data rate and delay to ensure QoS.
- Analyzed the impact of cooperative user numbers, data length, and packet count on energy efficiency through simulations.
Main Results:
- The proposed scheme effectively balances energy availability and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) for optimal relay selection.
- Enhanced energy efficiency was achieved without a significant deterioration in Quality of Service (QoS).
- Simulation results demonstrate clear relationships between system parameters and overall energy efficiency.
Conclusions:
- The Kuhn-Munkres algorithm provides an effective solution for relay selection in D2D cooperation, optimizing energy usage.
- The developed scheme successfully enhances energy efficiency in D2D networks while maintaining acceptable QoS.
- This approach offers a viable strategy for prolonging the operational life of D2D communication systems.
