Summary

Cytomegalovirus-specific complement-fixing IgM (CMV CF-IgM) antibodies were found in 14.3% of sera. These antibodies, reacting with surface antigens, mediate complement-dependent cell lysis, unlike other CMV-specific IgM or IgG.
