Eosinophilic cystitis with recurrent urinary retention: case report.

Summary

Eosinophilic cystitis, a rare bladder inflammation, can cause urinary retention. Bethanechol showed success in treating recurrent urinary retention in a patient with this condition.

Background:

Eosinophilic cystitis is a rare bladder inflammation with unknown etiology and pathogenesis.
Common symptoms include urinary frequency, dysuria, and hematuria.
Recurrent urinary retention is an uncommon but significant presentation.
