Background:

  • Clinic meatotomy (CM) under topical anesthesia is a cost-effective alternative to general anesthesia (GA) for treating meatal stenosis.
  • Despite demonstrated effectiveness, 50% of meatotomies are still performed under GA, incurring significantly higher costs.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the outcomes of CM performed under topical anesthesia (lidocaine and prilocaine - EMLA) for meatal stenosis.
  • To assess pain levels and success rates in patients undergoing CM.

Main Methods:

  • A retrospective descriptive study of 55 consecutive boys with meatal stenosis treated with CM.
  • EMLA was applied 20-60 minutes prior to the procedure.
