Ocular manifestations in beta-thalassemia correlate with patient age, not iron levels or treatment. Electroretinography (ERG) shows promise for screening and monitoring retinal function in these patients.

  • Evaluated retinal photoreceptor and retinal pigment epithelium function via ERG a-wave and p50 wave amplitudes.
