Background:

  • Elderly patients with glioblastoma (GBM) have a significantly worse prognosis.
  • Optimizing medical and surgical management for this demographic is crucial.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare patient and treatment characteristics between elderly and non-elderly GBM patients.
  • To develop a predictive algorithm for survival in elderly GBM patients.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 554 GBM patients (2005-2011).
  • Comparison of elderly (≥65 years) versus non-elderly patients.
  • Development of a multivariate predictive model for elderly patient survival based on preoperative factors.
