High-density lipoproteins and adrenal steroidogenesis: A population-based study

Low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) is inversely associated with glucocorticoid production, contrary to previous suggestions of compromised adrenal function. This study found no evidence of attenuated adrenal function in individuals with low HDL-C.
